Prouty Woods Community Forest
NEFF now has a place it can use to showcase sustainable forestry and NEFF’s
commitment to community forestry. It wasn’t easy and NEFF still needs to raise

Big Hill and Second Pond, a magnificent hidden natural area barely a
half-mile from busy route 1A, are at risk. The possibility of these 1,609 acres

Downeast Lakes Forestry Partnership Project Completed!
The partners have completed the $31.5 million project
to fund these purchases, establish critical monitoring and management
endowments, and cover the costs of the capital campaign.

Recent successes
The
Spednic Lake & Upper St. Croix River Project conserved 50
miles of forested waterfront on Spednic Lake and the St. Croix River in
Maine. NEFF joined with the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust, the Maine Department of
Conservation and Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, and the St.
Croix International Waterway Commission to accomplish this project.
This spectacular corridor on the US/Canada border is recognized internationally
for its wildlife, scenic resources and outstanding backcountry recreation. More

NEFF purchased a conservation easement
on 762,192 acres in Maine on the Pingree Forest Partnership. The Pingree
family has owned this land in northern and western Maine for seven generations.
The project now protects a green-certified, "well-managed" forest that
is home to a spectacular assemblage of natural resources. More
