The North Quabbin Woods Project

 North Quabbin Woods is an initiative of the New England Forestry Foundation that
fosters local, forest-based industries such as recreation, fine artisan crafts,
woodworking, and lumber manufacturing in the scenic North Quabbin region. By
connecting land conservation efforts with local businesses, North Quabbin Woods
promotes the region as a true destination for people who cherish nature in an
historic setting rich with architecturally preserved town commons, mill
buildings, and agricultural character.
North Quabbin Area Guide
 Located
in North Central Massachusetts, the nine-town region has over 94,000 acres in
permanent conservation, including five properties that NEFF owns and manages. A
majority of the land is conserved in the Quabbin Reservoir watershed, the public
water supply for the city of Boston and 40 communities along the way. Often
called the "Accidental Wilderness," the Quabbin and the surrounding region
provide habitats for the area's diverse flora and fauna.

Store
 The North Quabbin landscape provides many opportunities for hiking, mountain
biking, paddling, fishing, crosscountry skiing, snowshoeing, birding, and animal
tracking. In addition, visitors can find farms and orchards for applepicking and
hay rides, and historic town centers perfect for a leisurely stroll or picnic.
Events such as the Garlic and Arts Festival, River Rat Race, art shows, and
harvest festivals are also popular celebrations of the region.

North Quabbin Woods
hosts a visitor information center and local artisan gift shop for the North
Quabbin region, featuring maps and brochures of the area's attractions as well
as fine, handcrafted kitchenware, home accessories, carvings, board games,
furniture, and artwork. It also promotes the region's talented woodworkers who
create high-quality custom kitchens, mantels, home-entertainment systems, and
timber-frame and log homes constructed locally and throughout New England,
including Cape Cod and the islands. Lumber and flooring from area sawmills are
available via the North Quabbin Woods web site, as well.
