Registration required
New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) is teaming up with yoga instructor, Melissa Ackerman, to offer a gentle practice and guided meditation honoring the integrity and natural beauty of the forest. Poses will encourage participants to “think like a tree” while experiencing moments of balance and stillness.
This outdoor session will be held in the backyard of our office located at the historic Prouty Woods Estate. We encourage all to finish the practice by taking a walk behind the property in NEFF’s 120-acre Community Forest, also open to the public year-round. Please bring a mat or beach towel and prepare to soak in the Healing Powers of Nature.
Melissa is a 200 hour trained RYT with over 20 years of practice on and off the mat. She is also a certified Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga teacher and Yin Yoga certified. Melissa is experienced teaching All Levels Vinyasa, Slow Flow, Power, Yin and Chair Yoga classes.
Melissa draws on her counseling background to acutely tune into her students and thoughtfully communicate her cues. Her classes encourage students to link breath with movement, quiet the mind and be present in their practice. The aim is to provide an environment for students to experience moments of stillness of the mind (Nirodah), create balance physically and mentally and through the practice of Yoga, move through life with more ease. Through her classes, she hopes to pass on all the joys and gifts that yoga has brought to her life both on and off the mat.
