The Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation is holding the inaugural Canopy 2024: Forests, Climate and Innovations Forum on Thursday, March 21 at the beautiful, mass-timber Olver Design Building. This event brings together current and future forest landowners, forestry professionals, business leaders, educators, and policy-makers to delve into crucial discussions surrounding forests, climate change, and innovations within the forest and forestry industry.
Canopy 2024 will feature speakers and workshops focused on how Massachusetts forest landowners and forest-based businesses can meet the growing demand for wood products in economically and environmentally sustainable ways. There will be a keynote address from Tom Bodett, an author and regular on NPR (best known for his Motel 6 “We’ll Leave the Light On For You” commercials) who also founded HatchSpace, a community woodworking shop in Brattleboro, Vermont.
New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) is proud to be an event partner alongside Massachusetts Forest Alliance, Mass Audubon and the UMass Amherst Building and Construction Technology division of the Department of Environmental Conservation. NEFF Executive Director Bob Perschel will speak briefly during the forum’s opening session, and NEFF Director of Outreach & Engagement Lisa Hayden and NEFF Woodlands Partnership Coordinator Kate Conlin will table during the event to spread the word about the Woodlands Partnership of Northwest Massachusetts’s work and successes.
The cost for Canopy 2024 is $25, which includes the full day of speakers, workshops, exhibitors, building tours, giveaways and raffles; a provided lunch; and free parking in the campus center garage. Click here to register.
