Volunteer Trails Day at Hartnett Manhan Memorial Forest

65–81 Mineral St., Easthampton, MA 01027  |  May 17, 2025, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF) at Hartnett Manhan Memorial Forest in Easthampton, Massachusetts, on Saturday, May 17, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., for a guided woods walk and discussion of the recent timber harvest. A limited number of hand tools will be available for those who would like to assist with light trail clearing as we make our way to the river. The event will be held rain or shine.

Please park at the Mineral Street Trailhead in Easthampton (parking is available on the roadside only).

Who Should Participate? 

This moderate hike requires participants to be in good physical health and capable of:

  • Walking up to 1.5–2 miles over uneven terrain
  • Navigating rocks, roots, and other natural obstacles
  • Managing sustained inclines of up to 20% grade
  • Children of all ages are welcome, but must be supervised. Tools are optional for children age 12 and older.

What to Bring 

  • Long pants, closed-toe shoes, and appropriate clothing (such as a hat, long-sleeved shirt, fleece/synthetic warm layer, raincoat)
  • Medically necessary items (EpiPen, inhaler, etc.)
  • Water bottle

  • Insect repellent (DEET or similar recommended for ticks and mosquitoes)
