Roseland Park, 205 Roseland Park Rd., Woodstock, CT  |  October 14, 2017, 1:30 pm
New England Forestry Foundation

Join the MassConn Woods partnership and the Woodstock Conservation Commission for an approximately two-mile “Walktober” hike at The Fen, a private wildlife refuge on Roseland Park Road in Woodstock. Host landowners Bet and Patrick Smith will share their passion for conservation and promoting wildlife habitat for the multitude of critters who visit this 30-acre site.

The hike will traverse a meadow, pine grove and level trail along wetlands and Muddy Brook. Consulting forester Eric Hansen of Ferrucci & Walicki will share forest management practices recommended for this woodland to promote forest health and resilience amid changing climate conditions and to provide homes for diverse wildlife for the years ahead.

Wear sturdy shoes for possibly muddy conditions and dress to avoid ticks. This event is made possible through a grant from the Wildlife Conservation Society to American Forest Foundation, New England Forestry Foundation and other partners.
