NEFF and partners are working to get climate-smart forestry implemented across 10 million Maine acres.

NEFF’s $4.3 million program protects late-successional and old-growth forests, and implements forestry on nearby lands to help store carbon.

This privately held, long-term timber investment fund and innovative land-protection vehicle applies NEFF’s Exemplary Forestry on large forest tracts. It blends private philanthropy, public funding and private equity.

Through this pioneering giving tool, participants donate their land to NEFF and its timber to a pooled income fund. In turn, donors receive tax benefits and an even stream of lifetime income, and their land receives permanent protection.

Want to help wildlife thrive? NEFF is partnering with eligible Western Maine landowners to create or restore important habitat using climate-smart forestry. Participants can be reimbursed for most or all of their cost.
