NEFF’s mission-driven programs offer an opportunity to put our region’s forests to work on their most important mission ever—maintaining a safe and healthful climate. NEFF’s “30 Percent Solution” for climate change mitigation could keep more than 646 million metric tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere over the next 30 years. This figure represents nearly 30 percent of the energy-related emissions we must eliminate over the next several decades to meet New England’s decarbonization goals.
NEFF’s three strategic initiatives impacting the 30 Percent Solution are forest conservation, Exemplary Forestry practices, and innovation in sustainable wood buildings.

Earned Benefits
Forest stewardship at NEFF is not a passive initiative. It is an active means to ensure our community forests thrive while working hard to mitigate climate change. We accomplish this through Exemplary Forestry, a forest management approach created by NEFF that prioritizes forests’ long-term health and outlines the highest sustainability standards currently available to regional forest owners.
Investing in NEFF’s forest stewardship program leads to healthier forests, more resilient ecosystems, improved public access to green spaces, and protection for vital habitats and ecological systems.
Visit our Exemplary Forestry page for more information.
