Forest stories are series of narratives describing how each forest came to be protected by NEFF. They represent an enduring record of the generous gifts of New England families. They also include a growing archive containing first-person accounts of the unique features and experiences that each forest offers. We hope our forest stories will not only be a helpful reference for members of the public interested in visiting them, but that they will further an even greater understanding of the remarkable diversity and gifts New England’s forests offer and why conserving them is so rewarding and important.
